Railtown 1897 Museum and Historic Train Excursions Have Different Schedules

JAMESTOWN — November 2, 2026. A visit to Railtown 1897 State Historic Park in Jamestown is not automatically a train ride: State Parks distinguishes the daily museum from seasonal excursion operations.

What a museum ticket covers

Railtown’s standard day-use admission opens access to its historic railroad interpretation, equipment displays and grounds subject to site conditions. The state currently advertises $5 adult and $3 youth museum admission.

Excursion tickets require confirmation

Historic train rides are offered seasonally and on specially scheduled dates. A past Halloween Train Ride announcement does not guarantee public excursions in November, and visitors should consult the official Railtown ticket site.

Which hours apply in November

Museum hours shorten to 10 a.m.–3 p.m. in November and continue through March, with full closures on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Check contact 209-984-3953 before traveling for a particular locomotive or excursion.
